Student Testimonial/Profile Name: Country of Origin: US Program: Chris Ryder Diploma of Graphic Design I’vealways wanted tocome toAustralia, I actually came here on holiday at the end of last year and I picked Brisbane because I’m into music and my research showed that Brisbane was THE best music scene in Australia. And while I was here Billboard Magazine actually rated it in the top five of best music scenes in the world. The Diploma of Graphic Design has turned out tobe a great course. I learned more in one class than I had in 10 years as a graphic designer, I was able to pretty much master Adobe Illustrator without ever having touched it before within five months of using it. The course has helped to expand my abilities beyond 10 years. I have been doing graphic design as an amateur and I have gotten more from the last six months at TAFE than I have in the last 10 years of doing it on my own. After my studies I hope to go into Graphic Design as a professional and be able to make a full living of it and I shouldn’t have a problem with the skills I have attained at TAFE. When I have finished my course I will not miss Australia, because I’m not going back – I am staying! Name: Noriko Ayai Country of Origin: Japan Program: Certificate III in Companion Animal Services I have always loved animals, and wanted to study animals in Australia. My college teacher in Japan told me about this course at Brisbane North Institute. I love the course; we study nutrition, basic training, and the care of small animals like dogs, cats and birds and grooming – we actually clip dogs and wash dogs. Sometimes we help to examine animals and observe cats and dogs. I like living in Brisbane; it is fairly small and really good for students. It is easy tofind places, everybody is really friendly and it’s really fun – a really easy place to live. Australia is great; I love the people and the climate. I really like it here.
