THE AUSTRALIAN Government’s Education Revolution is delivering measures which will ensure a world-class education for our students at all levels of education – from early childhood to postgraduate research – and from all corners of the country and the globe. More than 600,000 international students from nearly 200 countries are enrolled with Australian education institutions. These students and the growing number that will come in the years ahead will benefit from our Education Revolution in many ways. They will benefit from the intensity of our focus on lifting the quality of education and from wider international recognition of our qualifications. They will benefit from the stronger support we will provide to safeguard and enrich their experiences both on and off campus and from our strategies to prepare them for employment in the global marketplace. foreword Australia is already a recognised leader in international education. Among English-speaking countries, only the United States and the United Kingdom enrol more international students. Over a million international alumni have studied in Australia and returned home to act as our ambassadors. Our international graduates confirm our boast. A recent survey showed that well over 80% of them were satisfied with both their study experience and the quality of their education. The same survey pinpointed why international students choose to study in Australia – the chief reasons are the high quality of education, the safety and security of Australia as a place to live and the possibility of living close to a beautiful natural environment. We understand how international education opens a window on the world, how it produces globally connected people whose knowledge, skills and networks will be keys to environmental sustainability, healthy and secure societies and vibrant cultures, as well as to national and global productivity and economic growth. That is why the Australian Government welcomes international students so warmly and places such value on their intellectual development, their readiness for employment and their personal and social wellbeing. Through immersion in an Australian study experience, international students can put themselves in a position to undergo their own positive personal revolution in their academic, social and personal lives. The Honourable Julia Gillard MP Deputy Prime Minister Minister for Education Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Minister for Social Inclusion the australian government’s education revolution is delivering measures which will ensure a world-class education for our students at all levels of education – from early childhood to postgraduate research – and from all corners of the country and the globe.
