xlT inDuSTRial TRaining inc 114 Australia – The Education Destination XLT Industrial Training Inc has campuses in Perth, Brisbane with plans for Sydney and Adelaide into the near future. XLT has three components: (1) a private registered training organisation; (2) an industry consultant, technical problem-solver and industry support specialist in engineering and technology; and (3) a research and development facility seeking to problem solve through technological development for industry. XLT provides an independent ‘one stop shop’ for all aspects of engineering, polymer and metal trades. We specialise in all forms of engineering training, research and development and technical support. As such, we require extensive facilities capable of supporting any industry demands that we are called upon to meet or supply. Meeting employment needs Australia is generally experiencing a skills shortage and part-time employment is usually quite easily obtained. Many fields of engineering and welding specifically are highly featured in the Australian Government’s National Skills Needs List. Meeting the training needs of the mining and engineering industries has been a key driver for the development of resources and expertise at XLT Industrial Training. Our success in meeting this skills agenda has seen our reputation develop on a national and international basis, with increasing numbers of international students and a growing presence in the Asia Pacific Region. certificate iv in engineering Entry into the Certificate IV in Engineering requires students to possess a satisfactory level of English, as determined by a sufficiently high IELTS score, and a professional background in engineering. Students without these levels may require additional training before starting their enrolled course. Past educational and vocational qualifications should be added to a student’s course entry application. Where a student believes they may have course credits or certifications, a request for a ‘Recognition of Prior Learning’ application should be included in the student’s application. course content and facilities XLT provides the course over a period of 20 hrs per week, with a combination of classroom and workplace training approaches. Assessments include written tests, assignments, observation of workplace and simulated tasks. Students study competency-based training and assessment modules and are assessed according to established industry standards that will equip the student with the essential skills and knowledge to gain a firm footing in their chosen industry area. Students who successfully complete their course will be rewarded with qualifications that are both nationally and internationally recognised. The facilities at XLT include air-conditioned and heated classrooms, with internet and computer access areas available for enrolled students. All training is conducted with the highest industry standards of tools and equipment available to students. Supplementary research materials and resources are within easy access. Pathways to further study Students completing a Certificate IV or higher qualification may have the opportunity to apply for further studies at tertiary level.
