The Education Destination : Australia The Education Destination 2011
124 Australia – The Education Destination auSTRalian council foR PRivaTe eDucaTion anD TRaining Australia is a truly global study destination. In 2010, more than 600,000 students from 190 countries came to study in Australian education institutions. One of the great strengths of Australia’s thriving international education sector is the combination of quality, diversity and choice that it offers to students. A driving force in this diversity is Australia’s internationally distinguished private post-compulsory education sector, which stands equally alongside universities and government- funded institutions to offer greater choice to students to further their education. Australia’s private education providers meet the same high standards as publicly-funded institutions. They are regularly audited and assessed against stringent rules to ensure that, wherever you choose to study, you will receive the best educational experience. The Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) is the peak body for Australia’s successful private education sector. ACPET represents more than 1100 training organisations that offer a wide range of courses including higher education, English language and vocational studies. Quality: The foundation of a thriving education system Claire Field, the Chief Executive Officer of ACPET, says it is this combination of quality, diversity and choice that continues to attract students to Australia in ever-increasing numbers. ‘Every student who travels to Australia to study deserves to receive the best possible education and to have an enriching and positive experience during their studies,’ says Ms Field. ‘That’s what ACPET and our members are committed to, and it is what students can expect when they study in Australia.’ To meet those expectations, ACPET has implemented a comprehensive Quality Strategy, designed to ensure the best educational outcomes for students. ‘Quality education is the cornerstone of creating futures through improved productivity, quality of life and better life prospects,’ Ms Field says. ‘By developing a strategy to ensure quality education outcomes, ACPET is ensuring that Australia’s private education and training sector continues to be among the best in the world.’ ‘Private providers offer accredited courses across a wide range of industries, including niche courses targeted to specific industry needs.’ Private education providers: creating futures when you study in australia, you can choose from a range of institutions, including private education providers. The australian council for Private education and Training (acPeT) explains the benefits of studying a vocational, higher education or english language course with a private provider.
