The State Government has almost 1600 primary and secondary schools throughout Victoria, with 100 accredited for international students. There are 218 independent schools, some of which have a religious affiliation. Victoria boasts Geelong Grammar, the prestigious school where Prince Charles spent a year of his education. Victoria also has 484 Catholic schools. Melbourne offers hundreds of excellent schools at primary and secondary level. You will also find great schools in regional cities such as Geelong, Ballarat, Bendigo, Horsham, Latrobe, Mildura, Shepparton, Wangaratta, Warnambool and Wodonga. Students study for their matriculation exam in Years 11 and 12. Some independent schools offer the International Baccalaureate, in addition to the Victorian matriculation exams.
