It is a dominant force in the Australian research and development arena with many research institutes, universities and technology parks. Victoria has nine world-class research- based universities, as well as many quality vocational colleges, schools and English language colleges. It is a State of knowledge, innovation and technology. MULTICULTURAL MELBOURNE Melbourne is a vibrant, multicultural city with residents from more than 230 nations. The city is a commercial, cultural and recreational hub with a population of over three million people, 30% of whom were born overseas.
