The Australian university system aims to produce graduates who are independent thinkers. ‘ ’ ENTRY REqUIREMENTs to gain a student visa for an Australian university course, you must meet both academic requirements and english language requirements. each course has its own specific entry requirements. For an undergraduate degree, you will need to have the equivalent of an Australian senior secondary certificate of Education (Year 12). some courses may also have specific pre-requisite subjects, such as chemistry or mathematics. if you do not meet the full entry requirements for an undergraduate course, you may be able to undertake a foundation studies program. this program is one year of intensive preparation which will give you the skills you need to enter an undergraduate course. At the postgraduate level, you must have satisfactory completion of at least one degree at undergraduate level. the university may also take work experience or research ability into consideration. The Australian university year begins in early March and finishes in late November. Australian universities offer thousands of courses across a diverse range of subject areas from bachelor degrees to postgraduate study. The education system encourages lifelong learning so you can upgrade your skills with a university program at any point in your career. At the undergraduate level, you can study a bachelor degree or honours year. Postgraduate programs include postgraduate certificate and diploma, masters degree, Master of Philosophy, doctorate and doctor of Philosophy (Phd). Many Australian university courses can be tailored to suit your interests and goals. In most courses, you can select electives (subjects) in addition to the required subjects. Students can undertake a double degree, combining two degrees at the same time. double degrees give you the opportunity to enhance your skills. For example, you could do a double degree in a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws or a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education. You will graduate with two degrees. Australian universities range in size and vary from city campuses to those in the countryside or near the sea. Programs take advantage of their local environments, so you may decide to study rainforests in a tropical area or marine science close to the ocean.
