The Education Destination : Australia The Education Destination 2012
>AUSTRALIAN EDUCATION 2012 137 >FIND OUT MORE Perth Education City www.pertheducationcity.com .au FESTIVALS, FOOD AND FUN Perth is WA’s cultural hub for arts and entertainment, with the city and its surrounds providing the backdrop for festivals and cultural events all year long. Visit the traditional and contemporary art galleries; spend a night of theatre, dance, music, comedy or film; or take advantage of Perth’s amazing weather and enjoy alfresco entertainment. The city’s multicultural mix is most evident in its food, which caters for all moods and tastes. Local and international students love to frequent dim sum restaurants and food halls which serve a variety of international cuisines. There are also many entertainment venues including funky lounge bars, clubs and pubs, where you can dance, listen to live music and watch sporting events. As a student, you always need a bit of extra cash! If you are on a student visa, you can work part-time for up to 20 hours per week (and up to 40 hours per week during semester break). This allows you to earn some spending money and become an active member of the community. If you’re not a native speaker, it is also a great way to improve your English. There are ample jobs available in the areas of administration, communications, hospitality, house-keeping, retail and tourism. If extra cash is not a concern, why not volunteer at one of Perth’s numerous charitable organisations or community programs. Enjoy a study experience like no other in Western Australia. ● ‘With 12,500 kilometres of pristine coastline and vast diverse landscapes, there is an adventure for everyone.’
